Meet AUVI

A non-invasive fistula monitoring wearable designed for the early detection of a failing fistula.

Our mission is to reduce AV fistula failure in dialysis patients by providing advanced surveillance and early detection tools. By identifying issues early, we aim to prevent costly surgeries, minimize catheter use, and make salvaging fistulas more accessible. We seek to improve patient care by reducing pain, re-operations, and expenditures, all while giving peace of mind.

Hemodialysis Access
In End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), a machine replaces the functions of the kidney. In order for the machine to interface with the human body, an arteriovenous fistula is created. This is where, in order to increase blood flow, a vein is directly plugged into an artery.

The Problem
1. Fistulas need time to mature.
On average, it takes 2-3 months for the vein to accommodate the new hemodynamics. In this time they go unmonitored.
2. They fail.
In three months, only 10% are ready for dialysis. By one year, 40% have failed.
3. We can save them.
Intervention within the window of 48 hours leads to higher long-term patency rates, and higher rates of salvage success.

The issue? We don’t find them until a week later.
Our Technology
The Auvi patch is a non-invasive remote monitoring device that dialysis patients, with a new fistula, wear. The wearable uses various sensors and a proprietary algorithm to detect fistula failure before it happens. Data from the device is continuously sent to the care team's dashboard where they can then take the necessary steps to save the fistula. Every time our device detects failure early we prevent the need for dangerous central line catheters and tens of thousands in operations costs.
